League of the Green Velvet Chairs

League-thumbnailThe Story

The Inverness estate is now being looked after by Jack’s niece. A few of the original characters still remain, including the caretaker, Old Art, and Jack’s good friend, Mojo Sam the Youdoo Man.

Four of Jack Flanders fans arrive at the old mansion, hauling along their own green, overstuffed chairs. They are Zula, Zoey, Homer and Cairo. Each one tells of dreams they’ve had while sitting in their green velvet chairs. Their dreams not only appear similar, they believe they’ve been called to Inverness, and they’re trying to understand why.

The Citadel of Shadows

In their dream world, there is a dark castle surrounded by walls, everyone has left, only their shadows remain. If a dreamer should wander into this moonlit citadel, the shadows will attempt to cling to them, to become their shadow.

This becomes a reality when Zoey sits in Jack’s green chair. As the church bell chimes midnight, the chair begins to grow wings. The next day they find Zoey in a coma. That evening Mojo also sits in the chair and is taken to this moonlit realm, but he too becomes lost within the citadel ofhungry shadows.

Tim’s Music

The music that Tim Clark has composed for this story is extraordinary, at times it is so beautiful, at other times, it’s pretty creepy. In other words, it is amazing.

The Case of the Disappearing Witch

CASEIn a little theatre, off off off Broadway, Simon Gray is attempting to direct a production of Macbeth, but every actress that plays Witch #3, disappears. Simon calls in his old friend, Mojo Sam. When Mojo sees an actress vanish before his eyes, he brings in Little Frieda, a girl who looks about 12 years old, wears pigtails that rise straight up in the air when she senses danger, smokes Havana cigars, and has no pupils in her eyes. She can see thought forms. When she finally talks Simon into allowing her to play Witch #3, Little Frieda also disappears, in fact, right on stage, “Poof!” she’s gone. But then, in the Realm of the Muse, Little Frieda meets the real Witch #3, and she is sizzling mad and out for revenge.

Wait ‘til you hear the music that Tim Clark did. It is awesome! Really exceptional, a full orchestra backing the skewered humor of Meatball Fulton’s script, along with his really bent take on Macbeth’s witches.

Little Frieda’s Life Lessons

LFLLLittle Frieda comes from a race of beings whose purpose in the cosmos is to smoke cigars and, in their spare time, lend a hand, when possible, to humans who have gotten themselves into one kind of jam or another. When Jack Flanders came to Inverness and stumbled into the Fourth Tower, he embarked on a crash course of life lessons filled with sticky jams of all kinds. Little Frieda became his help-mate, keeping Jack alive and learning.

In addition to last minute, death-defying rescues, her mission included providing Jack with instruction on living a fulfilling life, but because they were constantly running away from dragons and things, she never had a chance to lay it all out. Now she does, in Little Frieda’s Life Lessons.

Drawing on her unusual skills and guided by the wisdom of her ancestors (including her poker-playing uncle, Lenny), the strange-eyed one with the pig-tails brings a new approach to the concept of “self-help”, an approach that can best be summed up in her own words: “We’re all alone together, so help yourself. I need it!” This one’s short, but sweet.

Do That in Real Life?

TNJ3When Jack Flanders is being chased by a zombie, his phone rings. It’s his old friend, Mojo Sam, waking him from his nightmare and inviting him to New Orleans. “No zombies down here,” Mojo chuckles. Strolling through the French Quarter, Jack notices a woman intently watching him. When their eyes meet, he suddenly realizes she is Claudine, from Montreal. But is she? Or has he just met a voodoo priestess who can shapeshift herself into the woman of his dreams?

To top things off, Jack meets a real zombie! No wonder Mojo was chuckling. The zombie is simply one of the dead that stroll about the French Quarter late at night. He wants to leave this world, and he needs Jack’s help.

The story isn’t scary. There is no skeleton fingers, reaching up out of a damp grave, grabbing your big toe. Remember, this is a city where they bury their dead above the ground.

It’s wonderfully rich with the sounds of New Orleans. The author, Meatball Fulton, roamed the French Quarter late at night recording the jazz clubs, the cafes, the street life, the revelers, and the riffraff.

The Incredible Adventures of Jack Flanders

51YMtBDkEmL._SY409_BO1,204,203,200_In the dead of night, a large shipping crate is delivered to the home of our hero Jack Flanders. Opening the crate, Jack discovers a green velvet overstuffed chair. Each night at the stroke of midnight, Jack sits in the soft, comfortable chair which comes alive, luring him onto its velvety realm. Everyday reality fades away, and Jack finds himself in a strange, other-world of magic, pirates, and sorcery where huge puffballs cling to ceilings and walls, masted sailing ships with wings fly the skies and islands float in the air…

The next time you settle into your favorite easy chair, you might want to test the cushions, or bring along a suitcase.

Like a modern day Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Incredible Adventures of Jack Flanders is five hours of humorous fantasy adventure, with Robert Lorick as Jack Flanders and Dave Herman as the Narrator. Tim Clark, who composed the music for both of the Ruby series, has created some splendid, ethereal space/fantasy music.

Moon Over Morocco

MOMOnce in a far away land there existed a knowledge of natural magic that has been lost to modern man. Jack treks to Morocco, believing that in this primitive country, where magic remains an integral part of daily life, he may find this knowledge. Jack discovers far more than he expected when he steps through the Gate of Peacocks, the entrance to that lost world. Jack has stepped out of modern day Morocco and into the realm where the knowledge of magic is a requisite survival skill.

The environments in Moon Over Morocco were recorded by author M. Fulton while traveling around that country. You’ll hear the Medina, the Casbah, the music of the snake charmers, the lonely call to prayer from the minaret of the mosque, the dogs of Tangier as the moon becomes full, the music of the desert tribes recorded in the Sahara and Berber music recorded at festivals in the Grand Atlas and Rif Mountains. Music is recorded by Paul Bowles.

Featuring Robert Lesser as Kasbah Kelly, Dave Adams as Mojo Sam and Taurean Blacque as the Storyteller Mustafa.
